Whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again (John 4:14)

  • Right before all of the Corona Virus hysteria struck here in Illinois we took a group of five Junior High students from our church to Bloomington, Illinois for a Believe youth conference.  The theme of the conference was “Contact” focusing on the topic of prayer, and specifically the Lord’s prayer.  They taught us a cool acrostic, TACOS, to help us remember how we need to pray.  The T stands for Thanksgiving - this is what we always need to give to God during all seasons of life.  The A stands for Adoration - this is worshipping and acknowledging how great God is.  The C stands for Confession - we need to get our hearts and lives right with God, and God wants no sin to come between us.  The O stands for Others - we need to pray for the needs of others before we think of our own needs.  The S stands for Self - this should be the last person we pray for.  In Matthew 6:5-15 it says, “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others.  Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.  But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen.  Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.  And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.  Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.  This, then, is how you should pray:  ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us today our daily bread.  And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’  For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.  But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”  God desires us to be real and genuine with Him.  After all, He already knows everything about us.

Right now we need prayer more than ever as many people are feeling scared and anxious over this Corona Virus, which is plaguing our world.  In Philippians 4:6-7 it says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”  The prescription to fight off anxiety is prayer.  Prayer warriors are needed everywhere right now, and there are no applications necessary to fill out.  In 2 Chronicles 7:13-15 it says, “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.  Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.”  I believe that the power of prayer is what is needed to heal our land.  Please join me in this crucial endeavor.  Together we can stop this virus with God Almighty’s help!
